Ceramic versus carbon versus dyed film

The number on the film — 35%, 20%, 5% — describes how dark it is, not how well it works. Those are different things.

• Ceramic — the best heat rejection available, with no metal content, so phone signal, GPS and tyre-pressure sensors are unaffected. It is the film we recommend for cars that live outside.
• Carbon — strong heat performance and a flat, non-reflective black that does not fade to purple. A solid middle option.
• Dyed film — the cheap option that made tint a punchline. It fades, it turns purple and it bubbles. We do not install it.

California tint law, plainly

California is specific about where tint may go, and getting it wrong means a fix-it ticket rather than a warning.

Front side windows must let more than 70% of light through. The windshield may only be tinted along the top four inches. Rear side windows and the rear windshield may be any darkness, provided the car has both side mirrors. Medical exemptions exist and require documentation.

We fit CA-legal tint only. We will not install a percentage that puts your front doors outside the law, on any vehicle — so the film you leave with is the film that passes a roadside check.

What the installation involves

Glass is cleaned and decontaminated, film is computer-cut to your vehicle's exact window shapes, then heat-shaped to the curve of the glass before it goes inside. Door panels come off where the film needs to tuck behind the seal.

Expect some haze and small water pockets for the first few days while the film cures — that is normal, and it clears on its own. Keep the windows up during that period.

Tint is quoted per vehicle and per film, since the number of windows and the difficulty of the rear glass vary enormously between a coupe and a three-row SUV. Typical turnaround for a full tint job is 5–6 hours.

Every booking is by appointment only, seven days a week, 9 AM – 8 PM. Pickup and delivery is available if you would rather not drop the car off yourself.
