Clear bra and paint protection film for Orange County drivers

Between the 405, the 5, the 55 and the 73, an Orange County commute throws a steady spray of gravel and grit at the front of the car. Paint protection film — the clear bra — is a transparent, self-healing urethane skin that takes that punishment instead of your paint. At the Santa Ana bay we install it in XPEL, STEK and the other films we carry, from a partial front up to every panel on the car.

Where Orange County cars take the damage

The leading edge of the hood, the front bumper, the mirror backs and the headlights catch almost everything. Behind trucks on the 5 or the 55 that means chips; on the 73 toll road at speed it means pitting. Rockers and the lower doors collect tar and grit from wet-weather spray, and in shopping-centre car parks door edges meet other doors.

Film is about matching coverage to that pattern of wear rather than buying the biggest package by default.

Choosing coverage

  • Partial front — the first part of the hood and fenders plus the mirrors. The budget way to cover the worst of it; there is a visible edge across the hood.
  • Full front — whole hood, whole fenders, bumper, headlights and mirrors. No line across the hood, and the most common choice for freeway commuters. Starts at $1,400.
  • Track pack — full front plus the A-pillars, the roof’s leading edge and the rockers. Worth it for cars that see the 73 or canyon roads often.
  • Full body — every painted panel. Usually chosen for dark, soft or expensive paint, or a car that will be kept for a long time.

Sun, salt air and self-healing film

Near the coast the enemy is slower: salt and moisture overnight, bird droppings baking in afternoon sun, and the fine scratches from washing off both. The self-healing top coat on modern film closes light swirls with heat, and the film itself takes the etching that would otherwise mark the clear coat.

Pair it with a ceramic coating over the top and the car is also far easier to rinse clean.

How a Santa Ana install runs

The car is photographed and inspected, washed, decontaminated and — where it needs it — machine-polished, because film seals in what is underneath. Badges and trim come off where that lets the film wrap an edge, patterns are cut for your exact model, and the car cures in the bay before handover. Typical turnaround for a full front is 1–3 days.

Every install carries a 10-year material warranty. The bay is open 9 AM – 8 PM every day of the week, by appointment, so the installer and the space are reserved for your car when you arrive.

Areas we serve across Orange County

The bay sits in west Santa Ana, so it is closest to Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley and Garden Grove, and an easy run from Irvine, Tustin, Orange, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Anaheim.

Why Orange County drivers book the Santa Ana bay

Orange County cars live a particular life: long freeway stretches on the 405, the 5, the 55 and the 73, a lot of parking in open sun, and — for anyone near Newport or Huntington — salt air that settles on the paint overnight. The Santa Ana bay is set up for exactly that, and it sits in the middle of the county so the drive in is short from most of it.

  • Central location. West Santa Ana, a few minutes north of South Coast Plaza and the 405, so Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Irvine and Tustin are all a short drive.
  • Film choice, not a house brand. XPEL, STEK, 3M, Inozetek and Avery Dennison — we pick the film for the car and how it is used.
  • 10-year material warranty on the films we install, against yellowing, cracking, bubbling and delamination.
  • Seven days, 9 AM – 8 PM, by appointment. Weekend slots exist, which matters if the car is your commute.
  • Photographed on arrival. Existing chips and scratches are documented and discussed before anything goes on the car.

Paint protection film: Orange County questions

What does a clear bra cost in Orange County?
Full front paint protection film at the Santa Ana bay starts at $1,400. Partial fronts, track packs and full body are quoted per car, because size and disassembly change the labour. Call (562) 600-9730 or send the form.
Is full front enough for a daily commute on the 405?
For most commuters, yes — the hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors and headlights are where freeway chips land. If the car also does a lot of 73 or canyon miles, adding the rockers and A-pillars is cheap insurance.
Does PPF help with salt air near Newport or Huntington Beach?
It adds a physical layer between the clear coat and whatever settles on it, which makes etching from salt, sap and droppings less likely to reach the paint. It does not replace washing — it makes washing safer.
Can you film a brand-new car straight from an OC dealership?
Yes, and it is the best time to do it, before the paint has picked up its first chips. Book the appointment for the week you take delivery.
